Every neighborhood has one - a local hangout where "everybody knows your name," the employees have your favorite drink at your table before you order it and the food is just plain good. You know, the kind of place that reminds you of "Cheer's" if you will.

In Augusta, Georgia, that place is Shannon's.

Now under new ownership and fully remodeled, Shannon's is still the local "Cheer's".

In the evenings, Shannon's is just the place for friends to kick back, relax and listen to some live music, watch the favorite sports team or make a fool of yourself singing karaoke. It's a good meeting place during the day, too, as evidenced by the group of regulars that "hold court" in front of the fireplace pretty much every day at lunch.

The atmosphere is so closely knit that you might feel like you are intruding into someone's living room, but the great wait staff will put you at ease quickly. Shannon's is a NON-SMOKING restaurant and bar - however, no one under 18 is admitted.

If you stop by for an after-work cocktail, don't be surprised if there is a relatively full house as Shannon's is one of the favorite hangouts for a large number of Augusta professionals. As the evening wears on, some will leave, some will come in for dinner and drinks and some will stop by to hear the live music of the evening or sing a little Karaoke. You may stay longer than expected if you are not careful.
